The Rossmoor Buckeyes Senior B-3 team, playing a BALL match at Harbor Bay on Dec. 8, defeated Harbor Bay 7-5 putting the Buckeyes currently in first place.

In first position, Anna George and Captain Barbara Schwartz pulled out a win after almost 2 hours of play, splitting the first two sets 6-4, 5-7 and winning in a third set tiebreaker 10-5.    In second position, Jeane Dekelver and Cheryl Patterson won easily 6-3, 6-3.    In third position, Joan Warner and Gay White won in three sets, splitting the first two sets 6-3, 2-6;   then finally winning the third set tiebreak 10-7.   In fourth position, Pat Hyde and Loc Barnes lost in two sets 2-6, 4-6.

Captain Barbara Schwartz and Co-Captain Barbara Blum congratulated the team for all their hard work.   The Rossmoor Buckeyes, along with the Rossmoor Oaks, look forward to celebrating their wins at the annual team Holiday Lunch on Monday, December 15.

The Rossmoor Men Win

The Rossmoor Over 60 Men's Doubles League hosted the Round Hill Country Club team in a hard fought match at the Buckeye Tennis Courts on Dec. 10 ... winning a well played match 3-2.    The Round Hill team enjoyed a lunch in the tennis club social area and complimented the Rossmoor Tennis Club on its new tennis facility and its beautiful setting.

In this 5 team match, Randy Kuhl and Bob Walgren lost the first set 3-6, then went on to win the second set and the third set tiebreaker 7-5, and 10-7 respectively.   Larry Barclay and Al Schwartz lost their match in two sets, 2-6, 3-6.

Mike Ying and Allan Tam won their match splitting the first two sets 3-6, 6-4 then going on to win the third set tiebreaker 10-5. John Lee and Rolf Kvalvik lost their match 1-6, 2-6.

The critical third win for Rossmoor was the team of Murray Veroff and Ron Wyman who sat around waiting for one of Round Hill's players to show up.   After waiting for an hour, the Round Hill captain defaulted and conceded the match to Rossmoor.    Hey!   A win is a win!   Right?

The team would like to thank the other team members that came out to root for them.   Thank you Lenny Cook and Joe Potozkin!
