- There is GREAT concern that the GRF Board is not paying attention to all of our concerns, letters, and comments at their meetings and in The Rossmoor News. They seem to be dismissive of homeowners' rights and tennis players' rights. We feel it is imperative to take a strong stand and tell neighbors that they should be home during the sound study on Thursday, April 28 th between 9 and 1 and especially between 10:30 and 12:30 when the pickleball players will be playing on courts 1 and 2 and courts 7 and 8. This may be their only chance to speak up about the noise, parking issues, safety on Tice Creek Road and their peace and quiet. The pickleball players that are coming to Buckeye for the sound study are not the more advanced players that whack the balls harder and would make even more noise. We talked about the possibility of hiring a lawyer to fight for our rights. Amy has been typing the BE AWARE flyer on her computer with input from different people. She will have flyers printed. Larry will go around and figure out which manors are overlooking the tennis courts and where we should distribute the flyers. We will get volunteers to help the week before.
Flyer to be sent to Rossmoor Neighbors
Dear Rossmoor Neighbor
BE AWARE!
BE AT HOME THURSDAY APRIL 28 from 9 am - 1 pm
GRF is VERY seriously considering converting one fourth of the Buckeye Tennis Courts to Pickleball Courts. They are spending up to $10,000 for a Pickleball sound study on the tennis courts on Thursday April 28, between 9am and 1pm.
To protect your neighborhood be at home during this time to access noise levels. This may be your only opportunity.
Important issues for Pickleball court conversions are, but not limited to:
-Loud whacking sound problems of 8 Pickleball courts: up to 32 players.
-Double the number of players at Buckeye Tennis Complex.
-Loud voices at courts due to social aspect of play.
-Loud noise problems with daily social event/ activity/music.
Potentially effecting to your home values.
If courts are converted to Pickleball play you will suffer intense increase of noise activity as well as the amount of cars and people in your neighborhood and serious overflow parking problems on Tice Creek Drive and Avenida Sevilla.
Rossmoor Pickleball Club claims over 500 members.
If you are opposed or have concerns about this conversion of your quiet neighborhood please contact the following:
