The Buckeye parking lot is small and sometimes 

"How come I gotta park my golf cart by the big oak tree?"

There is a long tradition of RTC members driving their golf carts to play tennis.    The Buckeye parking lot is small and sometimes fills up, plus driving the golf cart up to the complex shortens the walk to the courts for those unable or unwilling to make the walk up the path.

Ironically, the problem began with the renovation of the Buckeye complex, when paving blocks were used to create a beautiful surface for the path and the social area.    When players drove their carts up to the complex for tennis or social events, they would pull their carts off the pavers onto the surrounding dirt and gravel areas to park.    This began to cause deterioration of the path border, the carts were starting to push the edging stones away from the rest of the path, causing gaps to start appearing between the stones.    GRF tried to reinforce the edge with crushed gravel.    But after another incident in which a golf cart unintentionally ran into the pergola in the social area, causing damage to both the cart and the pergola, the decision was made to to ban carts in the Buckeye complex other than for purposes of loading or unloading.    Therefore, an area just outside the complex, UNDER THE BIG OAK TREE, was covered in a thick layer of mulch, to provide a parking area for carts that won't be damaging to the oak tree root system.    Since then RTC members have adapted admirably, the cart parking area is used regularly, and life goes on...
