Drainage, or, The Rise and Fall of the RTC Lagoon

Remember last winter?    We were playing tennis at Cozy Creekside, and watching our beautiful new Buckeye courts inch toward completion, sunny day after sunny day.    And then we finally got some rain, and there it was- a scenic lagoon on Court 5.   It was 4-6" deep in some places, and wouldn't sweep or squeegee away, so we had to wait for Mr. Sun to come out and dry it up.    After checking our budget, and realizing we couldn't afford to hire a lifeguard for the whole summer, we approached GRF about remedying the situation.    Drainage options were discussed, and ultimately the GRF board approved funds for a passive drain (i.e., not a sump pump) running the length of the court.    The project was slated to begin some time in the fall.

Good news!    The drainage project began Monday, November 10th, and is on track for completion within a week.   Looks like we can check one more problem off the list, but I'll miss the ducks swimming along on Court 5, won't you?

Drainage update 12/9/14: Court 5 fared quite well in the heavy rains over the past week, and RTC members were playing tennis on Court 5 over the weekend.  Yay!
