Tournaments - Iekuni "Ike" Ichikawa

  • Memorial Day Tournament  and an e blast will be sent out 
  • need sign up for volunteers for tournament
  • Orinda Woods Tournament is June 3rd ( Becky Reiss) is in charge)
  • June 24th is New Members Tournament (Terry Quinlan is in charge) and Board Members should stop by at 9 to greet the new members
  • Linda Hague will set up teams of men and women for the Memorial Day tournament

Social - Laura Townsend

  • The Cinco de mayo party on May 6 had 60 % no show due to cold and drizzly weather
  • Sat. May 27th will be the kickoff for summer barbeques with cheeseburgers, hamburgers, salsa,chips, margaritas and other drinks provided
  • people will be asked to RSVP
  • At the next  General Meeting, on July17th, we will have sign ups for  grillmasters and event managers for July and August

Membership - Terry Quinlan

  • Membership holds at 213
  • Ball machine users at 72
  • New Members Tournament 6/24, Saturday

Facilities - Jerry Quinlan

  • Usage in April was 1500 which averages 50 per day
  • Minor repairs were made--new center straps on courts 3 and 4, all nets were measured to be the correct height, and nets on courts 4 and 5 are fraying the the bottom
  • 2 nets, plastic sheds,and sponge rollers need replacing, padlock off of court 6, and the electric outlet near barbeque is loose and needs repair. Al Peters will provide this updated repair list to Ann Mottola for action.

Old Business

  • Now accepting old tennis rackets and balls for donation to the Oakland Rec. Dept. They need to be put away as some are being taken
  • Let There Be Light Party is cancelled
  • Met With Ann Mottola of GRF to discuss resurfacing courts and purchasing awnings and a defibrillator. 

New Business

  • Update on the RTC Website review by Website working group members was provided
  • Ike, Terry, Chris, Emily, Al, and Les, Becky Reiss, Dave Blanchard, Padma Sreenivasan, Barb Burkhalter are all involved researching the best way to update or improve our website.
  • Les has said that google is something used all the time and might be more user friendly 
  • The Trails Club uses Wild Apricot and there is a trial period of 60 days for RTC to test/demo the website
  • Les will demo Word Press
  • We have to update our system by August or we will have security issues
  • Everyone on the Board needs to be tech savvy and we need a system that will be easy to use and accept membership payments on line

The meeting was adjourned at 2:30 P.M. The next meeting will be June 19th in the Bunker Room at Creekside.
