ROSSMOOR TENNIS CLUB MEETING
MAY 21st, 2012
The meeting was called to order at 1:33 pm by President Pauline Hanley. All Board members were in attendance except Barbara Blum and Michael Ying. Other members excused were: Jerry McConnell and Nancy McConnell. Also in attendance were Marcia Perry and Carolyn
Hinrichs.
The April Minutes were approved as printed.
The Treasurer, Christie Maxwell, reported that there is currently a checkbook balance of $13,523. She has recently spent $17 for a new endorsement stamp.
In Barbara Blum’s absence, Pauline read her report concerning the Buckeye project. Dennis Caren, Dave Kern, John Lee and Barbara had met May 7th with Jeff Matheson to go over final plans. (See attached for the full report.
Attachment is posted at both court facilities.) Barbara
suggested that club members be urged to attend the GRF Board meeting June 12 at which time to full details of the project will be presented to the board. The board will take the final vote to direct the CEO to sign the contractual documents with the contractors for construction on June 28th.
If approved, construction should begin toward the end of July.
Jan Geary, membership chair, reported that the club currently has 238 members. There was some discussion about how best to get correction to Wes Henderson so he can provide updates to the directory.
Peter Scully reported that the recent Trilogy tournament was a
success with RTC winning by a margin of just 6 games. Plans for the Memorial Day tournament will include lunch. June Wildcard will be June 2 followed by Chop Suey on the 9th.
Dave Kern reported that Mary Kay will be writing the column for
one week while he is away.
In Nancy McConnell’s absence, Pauline shared that Dee Luce’s son died recently.
Gay White and Carolyn Hinrichs reported that Spring Fling came in under budget in spite of a short fall of about 20 persons. Carolyn and Mary Kay had planned for 125, 96 attended. Everyone felt that the event was a success and that the addition of games during Happy Hour was a big hit.
Carolyn and Mary Kay spoke about the advantage of having 2-3 subcommittees for future Spring Flings as there are quite a few details to be handled. One of these committee could handle the cast party which is unique to Spring Fling. Gay reminded the group that the 15th annual BBQ hosted by the McConnells is scheduled for July 21.
Dick Normington reported that the vinyl covering is installed over the picnic area at Buckeye and that new clocks are on order.
As there was no old, nor new business the meeting was adjourned by Pauline at 2:42.
