Don Liddle was welcomed and he delivered for the board's approval/revision a draft for guidelines for new rules for Buckeye complex and the BBQ. The draft of the guidelines was distributed for the board members to read and make suggestions for approval and or revision. The board members will meet on June 30th at 1:30 in the Ivy Room to finalize the draft for submission to the GRF policy committee.

Court Engineer/Supplies:

  • We are still waiting for the missing wind screens to be installed. Courts 7 & 8 need numbering and Loc volunteered to go to Home Depot and buy numbers. About 6 persons have so far been trained to be Grillmeisters and there are a few more persons interested in the training. It was suggested they can be trained at a Saturday BBQ. We are contemplating inviting the Fire Dept. to speak at the July General Meeting on the safety in operating the grill.
  • There is a tentative plan to number the cupboards under the counter, with a list to be kept in the shed to indicate the contents of each cupboard. The cupboard containing the first aid kit will be kept unlocked. The large shed and the purchase of the new ball machine are still pending the sign-off of the Buckeye Project. Inspection of the nets for mending, adjusting and replacing is still to take place.
  • The court washing schedule has been changed. Only one pair of courts will be washed per week, (due to the drought) but all courts will be blown clean each week.
  • Secretary: Susanne Eldridge advised that a 3 month calendar,June, July and August, was published to the membership. Publishing the calendar as part of an RTC website is still in the works.

Treasurer: Barbara Schwartz reported a checking account balance of $13,931.09 as of June 16, 2014. The Spring Fling came in at a small profit. Barbara suggested to Loc Barnes, to remind the chairpersons for each social events to include set up fees when figuring the cost for the event.

Vice President: Dick Normington had no report, but advised that the Trilogy plaque will be engraved with the results from the May tournament.

Tournaments:

  • Tournament director, Randy Kuhl, will organize the 'Rossmoor Turns 50' Tournament to be held at Buckeye courts on August 30th.   Sign in at 8:30 and play starts at 9:00.   Planned format will be men's and women's doubles. Maximum participation of 16 men and 16 women.   Sign up sheets to go up at the Buckeye kiosk 2 weeks prior to the event.
  • The Memorial and the Chop Suey tournaments went well.   Complaints were received from people who wanted to play but did not sign up in time.   The sign up sheets for each tournament will be posted at the Buckeye kiosk approximately 2 weeks prior to each event.   Members would be well advised to check the 2014 Directory for the dates of the different tournaments and mark their calendars accordingly.   If you have questions contact the director in charge.

Wild Card: Barbara Phillips reported on June's Wild Card, and it went well.

Publicity: Dave Kern reminded us that the deadline for items to be included in the Rossmoor News is at least the Thursday prior to the publication, and sometimes earlier. So please give publicity information to Dave as early as you can. Dave will investigate to see if we can find one more tennis club interested in interclub competition with RTC. Blackhawk and Round Hills clubs were suggested.

Facilities and Maintenance: Jerry McConnell not in attendance. No report.

Sunshine: Nancy McConnell not in attendance. No report.

Social: Loc Barnes suggested we mention the Summer Picnic in the Rossmoor News 2 weeks in a row prior to the July 19 event, which takes place at Sportmen's Park at Hillside. This is Nancy McConnell's and Jerry McConnell's 15th year hosting this event and also their last. The RTC appreciates their dedication and hard work over all these years. The board will acknowledge Nancy and Jerry at the BBQ.

Membership and Reservations: We now have 249 members, many new and very active members.

Mike Ying reported on ordering Rossmoor caps and getting logo's embroidered on our shirts and jackets.

General Membership Meeting will take place on July 21 at 1:30 at the Creekside Club house, room 1.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:20 PM.

Respectfully submitted by:
Susanne Eldridge, RTC Secretary
