RTC Board Meeting
May 19, 2014 --- Meeting Minutes:

President Mark Patterson called the meeting to order at 1:30pm at the Ivy Room at Stanley Dollar Club House.

Present: Mark Patterson, Bill Sederowitz, Dave Kern, Barbara Phillips, Loc Barnes, Joyce Niebur,
Randy Kuhl, Ken Anderson, and Susanne Eldridge.   Absent:  Dick Normington,  Barbara Schwartz

President: Mark Patterson motioned for the April minutes to be approved and they were.

Court Engineer/ Supplies:

• Ribbon Cutting Ceremony has not been rescheduled as of today. Missing wind screens, signage on cts 7 & 8 and coat hooks still to be installed.
• Shelving has been installed in the kitchen area (by Dave Sperry, Thank you very much) and all cabinets have been keyed. Keys are kept in the storage shed.
• Fire extinguisher has been mounted in the kitchen area.
• The granite counters in the kitchen area need cleaning and sealing, so we will not need cover for them.
• A cover for the BBQ is not recommended.
• Don Liddle has volunteered to work out rules for the Grillmeisters. Still needing shelves in the storage shed and the Kiosk needs organizing.
• It was suggested that we hi-lite the pages in the sign up book to show court usage for tournaments and other events.
• The drainage problem on court 5 has been budgeted by GRF and Jeff Matheson advised that is should be done by September, maybe sooner.
• We have requested tan bark or mulch to be spread out in the dirt area.
• The score boards had to be mounted on the side of the nets that don't have the cranks to tighten the nets on.

Secretary: Susanne advised that most of the RTC Calendar for the remainder of the year (and beyond) is finished, but additional work is needed before the internet-accessible version is released.   An interim version of the calendar covering three months will be provided to the membership via email in several days.

Treasurer: Absent. Checking account balance of $15,033.87 as of May 6th 2014.

Vice President: Absent, no report.

Tournaments:

• Ken Anderson reported on the Trilogy Tournament that was a success, Rossmoor won 15 to 7. Forty non playing guests and members attended the luncheon. Overall Ken kept the costs just under budget. Ken was very appreciative of all the good help cleaning up after the tournament he received from the membership.
• The upcoming Memorial Day Tournament is on May 24.
• Chop Suey Tournament is on June 14, chaired by Bob Hanson.
• GRF has requested that we hold a tennis tournament to celebrate Rossmoor 50th anniversary and the board are discussing formats etc, no decision yet.
• Wild Card: Barbara Phillips reported that the May Wild Card was very successful. Sign up sheets for the June 7th Wild Card will be posted by June 27th at the kiosk at Buckeye Tennis Center

Publicity: Dave Kern suggested that the tournament directors submit information to him so he could publicize the events in his column. Also requested pictures to be added.

Facilities and Maintenance: Jerry McConnell absent. No report.

Sunshine: Nancy McConnell absent. Loc reported that Louise Ng was recovering in Manor Care after back surgery.

Social: Loc Barnes advised that the RTC directory showed incorrect date for the annual Golf Tournament. The correct date is Saturday September 6 at 2:00 pm followed by dinner at Stanley Dollar Club house.

Membership and Reservations: Joyce Niebur reported that we now have 247 members; 29 new members so far this year. She advised that updates to the directory were published to the membership via email.

New Business: RTC is administratively responsible to operate the Buckeye and Creekside courts and must get approval from the GRF to establish new rules for playing time (1 ¼ hr or 1 ½ hr), rules for Creekside and rules for Open Tennis. The RTC By-laws also need to be revised.

Next board meeting will be held on June 16, 2014 in the Ivy Room at Stanley Dollar Club House.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:00pm.
