RTC Board Meeting
Jul 20, 2015 --- Meeting Minutes:

Present:

Randy Kuhl, Rolf Kvalvik, Mark Patterson, Barbara Phillips, Barbara Schwartz, Bill Sederowitz, Ron Wyman.  Absent: Loc Barnes, Susanne Eldridge

President:

• Mark Patterson called the meeting to order at 1:35pm at the Creekside complex.
• Mark Patterson thanked everyone who came out to attend the General Meeting.

RTC Information Technology Committee - Mark Patterson/Randy Kuhl

• Still dealing with editing access issues, but Mark Patterson will start working on entry of some of Kerin Baker's abundant archival material.
• Scanning the photos and album pages, and then captioning them, will be very time consuming.

Court Engineer/Supplies:

• Dave Sperry has agreed to upgrade the shelving in the counter area at Buckeye with more substantial material.
• Several nets have been repaired, and the clocks have been upgraded.

Tournament Director

Rolf Kvalvik reported on past and future tournaments:

• Round Hill Home and Away tournament will  not continue due to lack of interest by Round Hill
• Upcoming tournaments-Women's Doubles 8/15, Trilogy Away 8/22
• New members have been asking about the rainout of the New Members tournament in April, and whether it can be rescheduled.  Sally Nordwall has volunteered to run a rescheduled event.  Rolf will look into a possible future date.

Wild Card:

Barbara Phillips reported that the July event went well.

Secretary:

Susanne Eldridge was unable to attend.

Treasurer:

• Current balance is $3495.02.

Ball Machine Purchase - A New Idea - Wes Henderson, Rich Racimora

Wes and Rich made a presentation about the Playmate Ball machine. There was much discussion about machines, and the problems with the current machine.

The current balance in the club treasury is very low, due to multiple expenses related to the new Buckeye complex that GRF couldn't cover. Therefore the club cannot currently afford to buy a Playmate machine.  There was some discussion about asking for contributions from members to help raise funds for the more expensive machine.  The machine purchase will be further discussed at a future meeting.

Vice President:

• Jerry and Nan McConnell enjoyed their award.
• Randy had further comments about the Round Hill tournament.

Publicity:

• Articles are going to the Rossmoor News in timely fashion, and frequently can be viewed on the RTC website before the paper comes out..

Facilities and Maintenance:

No report

Sunshine:

No report

Social:

• The Summer Picnic was well attended.  Everyone had a good time, but a number of people didn't get any ribs because they ran out. Barbara Phillips has spoken to the caterer about this issue.  Hosts Barbara Phillips and John Lee were thanked for putting on a successful event.
• Jerry and Nan were very pleased at being the honored guests at this year's Picnic, having hosted this event for more than 15 years.
