2017 Halloween Tournament

Marcia Perry chairs this very popular tournament. 20 men and 20 women will be divided into 8 teams of 5 players each. Coffee and donuts will be provided.

The Halloween Tournament uses a Team Tennis format which provides for a lot of fun and competitive play.  Normally, there are 8 teams with 5 players each--giving 40 people a chance to play! After the first round teams are divided into the consolation and main groups. The teams then compete on their side of the draw to decide the champions. There is a main draw winning team, and also one for the consolation side.

Because the Team Tennis format is unique, it best to list the rules below:

•  Each team decides who plays position #1, 2, 3, 4 & 5.
•  Each team spins to decide which team serves first.
•  #1 and #2 play together to start--after #1 serves a game, he/she rotates out.
•  The server goes out each game and the next number comes on court.
•  A team can not change players' numbers during a game. That can only be done between sets.
•  Rotation: 1 & 2, then 2 & 3, 3 & 4, 4 & 5, 5 & 1.
•  First team to seven games wins (7-6 is a score.)
•  Play deuce and add points. after second deuce and no winner, play a 1 point sudden death-- receiving team's choice of returner.
•  Use USTA rules.

This year, a lunch of grilled hotdogs and other goodies will be served.
