On a cold and windy Friday April 14th, the Rossmoor Oaks went to Alameda for their season final Bay Area Ladies League (BALL) match against Harbor Bay. The Oaks won all four matches keeping them in second place for the season.
At Line 1, Pauline Hanley and Judy Corliss played the toughest match of the day starting with he first game of the first set which had 20 deuces and long points. Hanley and Corliss hit hard well placed shots, but the opponents also hit many great shots. The Oaks won the first set 6-2 and lost the second set 4-6. Hanley and Corliss were down in the third set tiebreaker but stayed calm and focused and came back to win a hard fought tie breaker 13-11.
At Line 2, Shin Kim and Gery Yearout won fairly easily 6-2, 6-2 by covering the court and backing each other up. Kim stayed back covering the lobs and hitting deep cross court and down shots while Yearout covered the net with winning short shots and slices.
